Three Cheers for Ottawa!!

My very first YouTube video. I suck at anything using a computer, but I wanted to upload this song. Just substitute the "Maple Leafs" for "Penguins" :)

Go Pens!!

(weird, I know, since I usually like the Senators and would cheer for them if they weren't playing the Pens or Habs...but it's the playoffs and as long as the Pens are still in it, everyone else is 'the enemy')

Go Pens! Can't wait for the game tonight. Did GR arrange for CBCto carry the game for you again?

ASH -

Hopefully it's not too late to mention, but good luck with the schoolwork-related stuff today!

Last day, right?

haha yeah Dabich, GR has arranged for CBC to carry every single Penguin game...at least for this series. I don't know if it will change over to TSN for the second if and when we get there.

Thanks Stoosh. Wrote that last exam and it was crap (I never was good at remembering structures and mechanisms and chemical formulas and stuff), but I'm hoping that I passed. I'm never one to 'just' hope for a pass, but this is one of those times...

Anyways, who cares? There's a game tonight :)

Hey again,
I'm the "anonymous" that posted a note in your blog about the preseason games in September. I came across your blog because I Goggled "NHL preseason 2008" and this blog was the first thing that appeared.

Anyway, I was looking through your blog and it seems like you have a good thing going here. I noticed that it is pretty much all about hockey, which is totally awesome...it is always good to find more female hockey fans that are this hard core about hockey like I am :) Unlike you, however, I don't have a blog, because I'm a loser that can never find time to keep something like this, even though I have no life...lol.

I also noticed that you like Rick Mercer! Totally cool! Anyway, just thought I'd let you know that I've marked your blog as a favourite, so hopefully I'll remember to come back and see some of the things you are talking about, if you don't mind, of course...lol.

My name is Sarah, by the way. I'm a Communications Student hoping to land a job in the hockey world, preferably as a sportscaster or something along those lines. As long as I'm continuing my dream of meeting NHLers, that is all that really matters to me! Oh, and I'm not a complete puck bunny...I think good looking players are just a bonus of the awesome sport of hockey, which I love to watch and play! lol. ;)

Hey Sarah, thanks for stopping by! I hope you do come back and leave your 2 cents.

So you're a Comm major, eh? That's cool. Maybe you'll be the next Jennifer Hedger/Holly Horton/Cassie Campbell!

By the way, the next time you comment, you can choose the "Name/URL" option that is under the comment box and just write your name in, if you'd like. I noticed on the Love Guru post that you posted a 2nd message saying that the previous one was from you :)

So yeah, I basically use this blog to talk about hockey and give my opinion on stuff. There's also a little bit of non-hockey stuff, though virtually 100% of the posts are sports-related. I also write for Faceoff Factor, which is a Pens-focused site but I tend to cover stuff that goes on with the other 29 teams. I also covered the WJC last Christmas and I will be starting WC coverage in a couple of weeks. FF is in full playoff mode right now, with every series being covered, so you might want to check it out. It's in my list of links to the left.

And yes, I still hope that the Pens come to Moncton for a pre-season game, but I seriously doubt that will happen with the Pens-Sens playing in Sweden. Boston may be a possibility since they're playing a couple of games in Halifax, and Montreal too, but I think you could be right about the Leafs coming to town to play the Isles.

You say you're not a Leafs fan, so what team do you cheer for?

Hey Ashley!
Well, once I tell you, we'll become natural rivals, so please don't hate me for it and I won't hate you for being a Penguins fan :P lol. We'll become rivals because our favourite teams are divisional rivals. I'm a Devils fan...have been one for at least the last 9 years, which is when I fell in love with the sport. The reason: Martin Brodeur lol.

Yes, I know everyone thinks they are boring, but I love the fact that the ends of their games usually have you on the edge of your seat, literally, because their games are usually so close in score! I saw the Devils beat the Sens in Ottawa in January 2007, and then I saw the Devils lose to the Islanders at the brand new Prudential Center in November 2007. I really wish they won that game because that would've been Brodeur's 500th win! Urgh, did they ever disappoint me! But it was still a good game! Anyway, funny story about being there...we were talking to a security guard and telling him about how we were from Canada, and he was like "oh yeah, you guys have a team up there, don't you...the Leafs or something?" and we kinda laughed and were like "Actually, we have 6 teams up there!" lol, it was funny! You'd think someone who works at an arena would know something about hockey! But, he may have been a new employee, so I'll let him off the hook.

I've also been to a few NHL exhibition games now, and I'm looking forward to hopefully going to more. I've met a handfull of awesome hockey players, my favourite being Mike Fisher!

Anyway, I have one last thing that I should tell you, so that you have been warned. And I pray that you won't hate me for this either...but I do not like Sidney Crosby! lol. I'm not saying he's not the best player in the league by saying I don't like him. I think he is a good player, but I just don't like him...lol. This probably sounds kinda weird coming from a fellow Maritimer, but I have my reasons!

So yeah, that's a bit of a summary of me and hockey! Just one last thing: Go Devils Go!

Sarah - I'll forgive you for liking the Devils. I actually don't hate the Devils and I like Marty too. He's definitely one of the best goalies of all time.

Now, I'll only forgive you for not liking Crosby if you don't come on the attack around here haha. I know that a lot of people don't care for him, and I know what they all say about him and I'd have to disagree, but whatev.

I don't mind most teams or most players. Off the top of my head, I think the only team I really hate is Philly because I do not like how they have played this season (I'm not one for goonery), and the one player I really hate is Sean Avery. There's just something about him..ugh.

Other than that, I'm pretty easy going when it comes to hockey. I recognize and admire the talent on other teams - but things are a little different when it comes to them playing the Pens. Only natural, I suppose.

Funny story about your trip to New Jersey haha.

I've actually never been to a real, live NHL game or exhibition game for that matter, which sucks. I'm hoping to be able to go to the Isles game(s) in September. I'm also going to a few WC games next month, which should be great.

I understand what you're saying about Mike Fisher. He seems to be a really nice, down-to-earth guy. After the Pens lost to the Sens last year, I was cheering for Ottawa to win the Cup. I like Fisher's game. He's not a superstar, but he'll do all of the little things to help you win the game.

Very true Ashley! Some players have a bit of an attitude and think they are better than everyone else, and I don't like that...but Fisher is different. Jeff Tambellini of the Islanders is another example of a great guy...same with Comrie...they both will instigate a bit of a conversation with you when you meet them.

As far as "goonery", I'm not a big fan of it either, but I do love a good, clean fight. And I have to agree with the Avery thing...he is a jerk. And Philly...yeah, I'd have to say they moved down on my list of teams this year...somewhere down towards where the Leafs are listed (at the bottom! lol)

It is sucky that you've never seen an NHL game live...you'll love it when you do and you'll be willing to pay every buck it takes to go to one. I'm jealous that you get to see some of the WC games tho...I'd love to go down to a couple, but am still asking around to see if anyone else is interested. I'd love to go some of the big players that they will have down there and I'd love to see Shane Doan. Isn't Yzerman going to be there too? I hear he's a nice guy and I'm sure he'd be quite cool to meet!

If I don't make it down there, you'll have to fill me in on what happens and let me know if you meet any of the players! I'll be extremely jealous...lol.
