Hockey Commercial 23: Canadians are Polite?!?

I don't think so!

(Okay, so maybe this commercial isn't a true 'hockey commercial'...but whatever)

I swear every Molson commercial has a hockey theme. It must be the law. They sell beer...but hey, just show a bunch of hockey and put up a maple leaf and the crowds will buy.

It's a Hockey Night in Canada triple header tonight, starting with Sens/Pens this afternoon. Ottawa may be semi-slumping, but they know that a loss tonight will mean that there will be a new Eastern Conference leader. The Ottawa lead has been challenged for a few weeks now, but they have managed to keep it despite losing a few games. Tonight, the Sens will show up to play and the Pens will have to play like they did in Montreal.

Watch for Cory Stillman - he's starting to settle into the Ottawa lineup and I predict he'll be the key for the Sens.

Now that I wrote that, watch the CASH line start to actually produce.

Good call on Stillman! Ottawa can thank Stillman, Emery, the crossbar and both goalposts for keeping them in that game today. Yuck. Oh well. At least the Pens got the point, and at least the Pens took the play to the Sens for most of the game.

Philly hosery continues...lost 2-1 in OT to Florida, and I believe Florida tied it with like five seconds left. I'd laugh harder if the Pens hadn't lost today.

The Flyers also lost Richards, reportedly for three weeks to a torn hamstring. No sympathy for the Flyers from me, but I do really like Richards and I'm sorry to see him get injured.

Did Mats play in his last game as a Leaf tonight?

I only caught bits and pieces of that game, but I saw the 'goalposts' in OT and Alfie's game winner. Ugh.

I can't believe I actually got not one prediction right, but two - the CASH line started producing again with three goals. I always look like a dumbass when I try to predict the outcome of a game. I better not toot my own horn too much or else the hockey gods will punish me and the Pens with a Flyers-like losing streak.

The Richards injury...wow. Sounds a bit like Huet's injury a year ago. Losing Richards won't be good at all for the Flyers as they try to make the playoffs.

I, too, like Richards. CBC had a piece on him a month or so ago and he seems to be a really nice, down to earth kind of guy. I like a few of those guys on that team, but not the team as a whole.

Hard to believe it was only like 3 or 4 weeks ago that they were first in the division. When you play the kind of game they do, karma can be a bitch.

I was listening to the radio on the way back to Halifax, and everytime the news came on they were talking about Mats and whether last night's game was his last home game as a Leaf. There is SOOO much talk about the Leafs and what they're going to do. I guess Fletcher met with 4 of the 5 guys with no trade clauses, including Mats and McCabe, but there's no indication if anyone will waive his clause. I guess Mats is so incredibly upset over this because he doesn't want to leave, but the organization, the media, and the fans are putting the pressure on him to leave. I'm afraid that people will develop an anti-Mats attitude if he decides to stay in Toronto.
